At this very moment , a friend of mine is headed to Florida for a week vaction. They are on the road and left this morning at 6:30. They did a study once asking many people their favorite time of day and 6:30 won hands down. If you didn't smile, please read the last sentence again.I was in Florida last week and had a wonderful time and we were so blessed to stay in my friend's woderful 4 bedroom condo. He was so kind as to even let us use his boat. It was a bittersweet time because soon our oldest son will soon be on a much larger boat called anaircraft carrier on the other side of the world. We will not see him for 9-10 months Lord willing unless his tour of shortened.I often think think back to biology class when we disected frogs when it comes to vacations. As I disect the anatomy of a vacation, there are parts are much harder than others. I am sure the frog hates them all!
My friend is on the road with her friends. They all are excited and are full of hope and excitement . They will hopefully have a glorious week full of sun and fun. The days will fly by and and whether mentioned or not, they will soon start to dread heading home. Daily life takes its toll on all of us and to be free from our daily jobs and responsibilities . For a few days we get out of our ruts and are not a slave to clock or whistle nor bell. We sometimes forget what day it is. There is a time to pack of the suitcase and head back home. I know this first hand and have been there, done that just last week. There is a lot of thinks done in advance of a trip. When we do return we are a little down and up to our eyeballs with things that must be done before we get to start all over again.I told my friend I would pray for them and I have and will continue to do so.
Upon a return , I always think of the return to daily life as running the gaunTlet. This was a practice of native Indians. They would line up on both sides of a path and a young brave would run through them as the others beat him with sticks to prove their toughness and a ritual before coming a warrior. Truth is we all get beat up upon our return with tasks that have been put on the back burner. Soon we will wonder if it really happen but our sunburns will prove it was real.We all pray for family and friends for safe travel. Let us not forget to prayer for them as they return and ask God to make their re-entry smooth and easy.Thank God for all the beauty he prepared for uson earth far in advance so be could play , rest, and relax. I guess the point I am trying to drive home is we all need hope and something to look forward to. Get in your Bible and on your knees and find hope down the road when Satan tries to wreck your day.
I have been in a sub at the bottom of the sea. I have been on mountains high above the clouds watching bighorn sheep jumping from rock to rock. I have sat on the edge of my young sons while they were sleeping. My green eyes have seen some amazing things. There is a verse in the Bible that gets me excited and gives me high hopes each time I read it. It goes like this:
No eye has seen , no ear has heard , no mind has conseived what God has prepared for those who love him.
1 Corinthians 2:9
May you day filled to the brim with Him!
